In 2015 I found myself homeless, living behind a gas station addicted to heroin and meth. I felt my life was over and I had nowhere to go.
All Hope Lost
Full of shame, guilt and rejection, my addiction had gotten the best of me. Everything I wanted in my life felt impossible: a family, a relationship with my kids, and owning my own business. I spent most of life in and out of jails and institutions. I received help from my family multiple times, and wanted nothing worse than to just find my own road to success.
But I had given up. My life simply wasn’t fun anymore. Most of my friends were doing well and didn’t want anything to do with me, and by now, even my family felt much the same. I knew I desperately needed help and realized I probably only had one more chance. If the chance came along, I was willing. By the grace of God, I was given that chance, and I spent twenty-eight months in treatment.
Getting My Life Back
Thanks to the rehab treatment I received, I was able to overcome the addictions that had almost taken my life. It wasn’t easy—there were many obstacles along the way. But with the support of friends and family, it did finally happen. And at this point, the next steps were clear.
Job number one was, a job! And though I thought that might not be possible given my past, it was. Soon after getting back on my feet, I met the love of my life, my wife Shawna. She has been such an inspiration, and together we made the decision to make our physical health one of our top priorities. Our goal is to live a long and healthy life together, and I am truly thankful that we are enjoying the moments I never thought I would have the opportunity to have.
Because of our commitment to a healthy lifestyle, it is crucial to us that we exercise and get the right nutrition. The exercise we love, but the nutrition part can be harder. Let’s face it, the food that we eat today doesn’t always contain the nutrients we need to be at our best. That’s why we’re so happy to have found Saving Lives Fitness, and the supplements they offer. Understandably, their ‘mission’ is very dear to us and we love that part of every sale goes directly to support a cause that can help save others!
